We are working with the venue to get a new date booked in for the autumn and will forward this information as soon as we have confirmation.

Submit.Exhibit. Is an exhibition that celebrates risk taking and impulsiveness. The selected artists are challenging their all too common fear of the blank page. By making work in only five minutes. This leaves no room for panic or doubt, leaving only creative instinct.
This exhibition brings together otherwise unrelated artists, from differing disciplines and locations, linked only by those short 5 minutes. With no constraints other than time, the artists were free to indulge in the playfulness of creativity.
Curated and organised by Molly Newport and Chloe Beecham.

Someone & Something is a project for undergraduates studying creative subjects, led by aspex and The Roche Court Educational Trust based at the New Art Centre, Roche Court.
The project is an opportunity to explore contemporary art practice through critical discussion and support to develop their practice outside of formal education.
The participants attended two research days, to explore, discuss & debate the exhibitions On the Rocks. Again. Richard Deacon and Bill Woodrow and Forgotten Lines Joella Wheatley in relation to their individual practice. Through philosophical inquiry and creative activity the participants were encouraged to challenge their way of thinking and the process of making work.
Exhibited outcomes are based on responses to the research days and a reflection of current practice or new ways of working.
Participants are undergraduates from University of Portsmouth, Arts University Bournemouth, University for the Creative Arts Farnham, Southampton Solent University & Chichester University.
76 French Street, Southampton, Hampshire.
I am a Fine Art student at Southampton Solent University, as part of our upcoming second year exhibition ‘Identity 14’ I will be exhibiting a conceptual work at the Weigh House, 76 French Street, Southampton called 'Open'.
The locked gate to the Weigh House signifies an ownership of that space; a space the public are permitted to use when paying and under certain circumstances.
My work is to open this locked gate to the public, allowing the public to use the space as they want. It also represents the underlying politics of the use of public spaces in Southampton.
Is it ok to lock these places away or sell them off to fund private ventures? Is it part of an on going erosion of freedom and public property that people take for granted and accept? So, in a bigger picture the act of opening the gate also allows us to think about the freedom of speech by the act of unlocking to a free and open space. What people do in this space is their choice. Should people wish to sit and eat lunch, that is fine. Stand and smoke, that is fine, children run about playing, that too is fine. Street entertainers to set up and play would be terrific. For the duration of the time the exhibition runs, it is the people’s space to use, within the law of the land. Anyone, or any group can use the space as theirs, to enjoy and admire. It is after all a public property.
The idea is to not interfere or plan any events, no rotas of who uses it when. Simply let the space be.
Hopefully the presence of the open gate will encourage inquisitive people to enter; and therefore take part in the art. Freedom also means to give a choice; they can also ignore the open gate and walk past.
